Hi Sir/Madam! I am Jonas Padilla, a researcher from IRRI. I am currently working on rice blast disease. As part of our program, we are planning to have a new collection of diseased leaf samples from all over the country. Is there any site or source where can we get information on planting date and rice blast disease incidence of all rice growing areas in the country? Thank you very much!

Hello Sir Russel, we can plant rice by hydroponics way but mostly for seedling production. However, there are initiatives to produce rice in flood prone areas or swampy places. By using the "floating garden" from the principle of hydroponics and with minimal modification,we use bamboo raft with floaters such as used plastic bottles; here we put soil on the top of the raft and we can grow crops. Depending of the quality of the material, it can lasts more than 2 season of planting not just rice but also vegetables.thanks!
